About Us

MRRC (Melvin Recreational & Resource Complex Ltd.) is a registered charity established with a primary objective: to enhance the overall well-being of the people of Garrison and its surrounding areas on a cross-community and cross-border basis. We promote the principles of social inclusion, health, and accessibility.

At MRRC, we are deeply committed to creating a thriving community that is open and welcoming to all, transcending geographical and community boundaries. Through a range of initiatives and programmes, including those planned for physical health improvements, we aim to provide affordable and accessible opportunities for individuals of all ages and backgrounds.

Our Story

The Lough Melvin Holiday Centre, established in 1987 and initially operated by Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, played a vital role in our community. However, in 2019, the council closed its accommodation aspect, and in 2020, the entire facility was closed.

To ensure community ownership, Devenish St Mary’s GAA took action and purchased the building and land. Understanding and identifying the need for recreational and social support in our community, Devenish GAA subsequently leased the facility to MRRC.

This partnership works to maximise the building’s potential to meet diverse community needs, fostering social responsibility, and empowering our entire community in a bright future.

Our Vision

On the back of securing the lease of the former Lough Melvin Holiday Centre, we laid out ambitious project plans to transform the building into MRRC.

Our comprehensive community project encompasses a multifaceted approach to enhance the overall well-being and quality of life for our people.

This initiative includes the establishment of a dynamic community remote working area, a fully equipped community gym with modern changing facilities, the creation of a serene community walkway, and the cultivation of beautifully landscaped community allotments, where those in the community can play their part in growing a variety of plants.

Additionally, we have ambitious future plans to develop a dedicated health and well-being facility to cater for indoor sports and a wide range of community activities.
